Thelma Harris, CASA Volunteer

Fulton County CASA
Thelma Harris became a CASA volunteer with the Fulton County CASA program in Atlanta four years ago, in 2005. She has served on 12 cases and advocated for 18 children. She was a nominee for the 2008 CASA Volunteer of the Year Award in Georgia and received an Honorable Mention recognition for the Award.
Thelma is not only a true advocate for the children she serves, but also for the CASA program itself. She participates in activities to raise the awareness of the CASA program, finding new ways to inform potential volunteers and donors about CASA. She has volunteered to serve as a CASA speaker at various speaking engagements and is actively involved in attending many CASA events, along with her husband.
Thelma is truly a woman of service in her community. Not only does she volunteer with CASA - she's also served as a placement counselor for youth, a mentor at her workplace and a Sunday school teacher. Through her actions, she has shown a strong dedication and passion for helping children, as well as adults, in her community. She sends a message to the CASA children and youth for whom she advocates that gives them hope to persevere and contribute to society in a positive way.
