Georgia CASA

Georgia Court Appointed Special Advocates, Inc. (Georgia CASA), formed in 1988, develops and supports court-sanctioned, community-based local CASA programs throughout the state of Georgia that provide trained and supervised volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in juvenile court deprivation proceedings.

 

As a result of the development and support of Georgia CASA, there are currently 48 local programs throughout the state serving 135 of Georgia’s 159 counties.  In fact, last year, over 2000 CASA volunteers in Georgia served over 8700 children.

 
Specific program support that Georgia CASA provides includes:

  • –Various CASA Staff Training (train the facilitator, volunteer supervisor, and targeted training for operations and fundraising)
  • –Funding for start-up CASA programs and special projects
  • –Technical Support
  • –Quality Assurance
  • –Various Publications for the benefit of CASA staff, board and volunteers
  • –Volunteer Recruitment Assistance/Statewide Public Awareness
  • –Legislative Advocacy
  • –Annual State Conference and Bi-Annual Council of Programs
